3 Weeks – 3 Competitions for RG Frauenfeld
The gymnasts of RG Frauenfeld showcased the results of their training over the past few months at international competitions.
On February 15th and 16th, the international Moselle Cup 2025 took place in Luxembourg. The oldest gymnast of RG Frauenfeld, Sonia Kovalenko, competed in this event. With a very expressive presence, the 12-year-old delivered an excellent performance. The competition included gymnasts from Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Malta, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. Sonia achieved an outstanding 3rd place in the All-Around competition with her hoop and ball routines.
On February 22nd and 23rd, the athlete traveled with her coach Carolin Welsch to Ticino for the international Ticino Event, which included Swiss gymnasts as well as guests from Germany and Italy. Sonia placed 5th in both her ball and hoop routines at this competition.
The third competition on February 1st and 2nd took place in Wohlen, where two gymnasts from RG Frauenfeld traveled with coach Carolin Welsch and assistant Lana Tunesi. This event was also an international tournament, with athletes from Germany, Lithuania, Ukraine, Finland, and Kuwait, alongside the Swiss participants. For RG Frauenfeld, Sarina Gunsch (born 2018) and Sonia Kovalenko (born 2012) competed. For Sarina, it was her second competition ever and her first international tournament. She ended her international debut with a solid 12th place. Sonia earned two excellent podium finishes, 2nd place with the hoop, 3rd place in the All-Around, and a strong 4th place with clubs.
